About

Over the last couple years remote work has gone from a trendy perk at tech companies to a means of survival for many businesses. We're inundated with listicles and hot takes about remote vs. hybrid vs. back to the office, explaining that if you don't play your cards right here it could mean the end of your company or career.

And there's nothing wrong with remote work. I've been doing it for almost a decade, and I love it. It's definitely "for me". But the choice to work remotely isn't one that's afforded to, or valued by, everyone.

We're talking about the first mates starting their day at 0300 to get fish to tables. The forklift drivers dropping boats over their morning coffee. The ferry boat captains plotting the day's course. The first responders looking for a little extra challenge. The waiters, hosts, and bartenders slinging drinks by the dock at sunset. The dredgers, dockhands, lifeguards, and lighthouse operators. Not every job can be done at a desk with a laptop, but even those are best enjoyed with a view of the water.

Work on the Water is a community for folks who love the water. Whether you work on a boat, right next to the water, or in a cubicle in Omaha dreaming about what could be, this is a place for you to relish in that. We're building the best place to find and list jobs on the water. If you aren't hiring or looking for work, and just love the water, join us on Discord.

Welcome aboard.
